Down Down, a creep around you, set a road to the deep east, Down Down, a creep around you, setting a road to the deep east, Down Down.... SEE NEW WORLD!!
"Highway to Hell", "Stairway to Heaven", "My Way", "Another one Bytes the Dust", "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead".... it looks all the songs quoted in this article are perfect to be used for someones' funeral. And as the chief executive of cemetery and crematorium says, I agree that it's good because they represent the person's personality.
This tendency can be seen in Japan, too. It is now becoming popular to play the person's favorite song before the body is carried to crematory.
Personally, I don't believe any religions and I wish nobody holds a funeral when I'm dead and just my body will be burnt to ashes just for an idea of sanitation. But my Japanese family living in Kobe has the one, and as an adult man, recently I understood that someone's funeral is not held for the dead person but for the left family. So, maybe they will hold the one in Japanese style, and I should not stop them for their pride, or 'sekentei'(世間体, appearance)'s sake.
But for a music lover like me, it's irritating that someone plays the music which I don't like at all.
And not all my acquaintances knows about my CURRENT favorite music. A friend I made 5 years ago may say, “Santos-kun liked Morning Musume very much...” My Japanese family believes in him, and play “Never Forget” at my funeral. That's the worst scenario!! If it happens, I'll become a Japanese modern horror ghost, and kill all the attendance one by one from the television.
Then, which music can console my ghost and break my curse? Someone may say in front of my ghost, “Let's play Bon-Bon Blanco!! He liked the vocal girl very much!!”
If it were 2 years ago, my ghost would smile then and go to heaven immediately. Of course, I still like their music, and my soul will be consoled by the woman I loved the best in the past. But now I have a twisted emotion on that group, so it won't work. And my ghost will go and curse the record company's executives who cut the group listening their tremendous past works.
The key item to erase my ghost is the its mp3 player. There are songs the ghost was listening frequently in 6 months in it. I'd like to pick up some of them and examine them.
A-L-I-V-E (Foxxi MisQ) ....Apparently, it's not the music to play when someone died. Gasoline (SOUL'd OUT) “Gas Gasoline!! Gas Gasoline!!” - its lyrics are very suitable to play before the cremation. But it's disco tune and it won't be suitable for a funeral. Garden of Love (MAKAI feat. Aoyama Thelma) In my garden of love, you are my blue sky, In my garden of love, you are... It's good song to see the person who goes to heaven off, but I don't think I will go to such a place when I died.... Nokori bi -eternal bed – (double) “最後に聞いた言葉も 今では思い出せない 破れた心だけが叫んでた 遥かな遠い日” (I can't remember the last words I heard. The broken heart only shouts, the old far-off days) Dear Friends(SOULHEAD) “嘘つきの言葉や見せ掛けの笑顔に 何度も傷ついて 友達なんていらない そう思っていたんだ 君に出会うまでは” (I was hurt by the words from liar and pretended smile again and again, I don't need any friends – I had thought like that until I met you) These two ballads and their lyrics are very comfort ones to me, and they represent the part of my life. Apparently, some girls, especially ones called idols cheated me with the 'the words from liars' and 'pretended smile', And it won't be so strange to play them for the funeral. Freaky Planet (Discotique remix)(m.o.v.e) "Now the freaky man on the freaky star Do the freaky dance like a freaky giraffe " This provocative and ironical lyrics can represent my character and attitude, but disco song again.
.... and so on. Of course, they are not the all songs I'm listening heavily in these 6 months, but if I have to choose the one from these songs, I will choose “Dear Friends”. But I'll have to leave the additional message then. "Don't get confused the title." "My Dear Friend” from Aoyama Thelma is still OK, but if it becomes “Dear my Friends", it's the song I hate the worst, and I have to become the Japanese modern horror ghost again.
Anyway, for a music lover, it's very hard to choose the best one to represent oneself. Maybe the best choice is not minding about the music after death and enjoying the music while we are still living. And in the future, this kind of futuristic funeral songs may become popular and satisfy all music lovers' souls.
glad to see you back.
and I prefer not to play anything in my funeral.

It's better and more positive idea to play jpop for a wedding, or to think about it.
It is very popular to play 'Can you celebrate?' from Amuro in Japan, but whenever I listen to it, it makes me tilt my head. it is as if to say,
"Hey, can you celebrate us? Really?"

can u celebrate's engrish is not really appealing lol. i've always thought i wanted to use naotaro moriyama's natsu no owari for some special occasion. it might not be a good choice for a wedding, but heck it sounds nice for ppl who dont understand japanese lol. Deai no chikara is a good one too :)
oh and my brother knows me well and the music i listen to. he will probably play some Rihanna for me when i die hahaha

It's true the sound is most important when we play the music before the audience who don't understand its language well.
Rhinanna's Umbrella can be played for wedding, but Japanese won't play because the melody sounds like a sad song lol.
