AKB48 starts its branch in Nagoya.
(article from Oricon news)
http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/music/55084/full/According to this article, this idol group which performs regularly at a department store in Akihabara opens another theater in Sakae, Nagoya.
This new theater is set at a shopping mall named 'Sunshine Sakae'. New members who perform in Nagoya will be selected from audition in the future, and then new group
'SKE48' will be started. For a while, it seems some AKB48 members will be sent for the show in Nagoya.

I visited Sakae, Nagoya four years ago, so, when I heard of the news, I had to think,
'Why Sakae?'.It's a kind of business town and center of Nagoya City. There are some shopping malls or department stores, but never be the city like Akihabara, the city for otakus. So, this new group seems 'Marunouchi 48' or 'Ginza 48' to me. At least, it's sure if otakus gather there for the concert, they will be stood out.
It has already started its official site(www.ske48.co.jp) and the annoying producer is explaining that this is 'the first launch to the national market. So, in the future, they may have another branch groups in another city. Umeda48(Osaka), Susukino48(Hokkaido), Tenzin48(Fukuoka)... and so on. But why can they become so adventurous?
To tell the truth, it seems AKB48 and its agency got a new sponsor. It's Pachinko company,
Kyoraku. As many knows, Pachinko industry is the largest amusement industry in Japan. Pachinko (or Pachi-slot) is now becoming unpopular recently, but its annual income is almost 30 trillion yens. It's ten times larger than home video game industry. Some may not believe, but we have to say Pachinko is more popular than Nintendo Wii in Japan.
This shopping mall, where the new theater will be set is owned by Kyoraku, and it seems some branch companies of Kyoraku will take an initiative regarding this project. And The winner of the audition for SKE48 has to belong to the agency which deals some Pachinko-related business.
http://www.pyp.co.jp/information.htmlSo, when somebody wants to attend to the audition, they should watch out. Many will get confused for 'AKB48' and 'Akimoto Yasushi' brand, but this audition of SKE48 is not the road to the entertainment business in Tokyo, but the road to the Pachinko industry. I wish this fact is widely known, and many girls will be rescued before they are treated like the revenue from Pachinko industry.
The details will be cleared at the press conference on June 5th, and I wish some media will point out this problem ... but it'll be hopeless in reality. Pachinko industy is another darkness of Japanese society as well as Yakuza, so nobody can't resist as long as living in Japan.
I thought most of the Pachinko industry was (directly or not) controlled either by the Yakuza or by groups related to Chōsen Sōren anyway.
Is it wrong to say pachinko = Yakuza ?
Hi anti-pop. Your guesswork is not false. In Japan, this industry is one of the gumble businesses permitted by the government, see also
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachinko.
I played Pachinko with my old bad friends 10 years ago, but it was not fun for me.
Sometimes I feel this amusement is wasting time. Moreover, some parents leave their children in the car in hot sun, and those tiny lives died in Hyperthermia! Shame on them.
Anyway, Kyoraku recentry takes a method which uses beautiful gravure idols, Korean stars, Japanese animes, and popular movies as resources of game for attracting consumers in broad range. SKE48's sake is the same.
Different from horse racing or keirin, Pachinko is not permitted as 'gambling' by the government, though. The government just permits Pachinko shops to exchange Pachinko balls (or coins) with some goods, and customers sells those goods at another shop as second-hand ones. (customers can exchange balls with
So, I think Pachinko is NOT 100% legal and fair industry. It exists between legal and illegal, hence the darknes exists there. For example, Many former police officers are working in Pachinko companies after their retirement.
don't say this industry is totally controlled by Yakuzas or Koreans(who owns many pachinko shops) , but I think it's not the place inocent teenagers should work.
Is it true that mostly older folks play pachinko nowadays? that's from what others tell me and my own observations when I was there, the crowd seem to consist of mostly middle aged men. My Japanese friend doesn't even know how to play and it doesn't look interesting to me either, but I find it amazing how they can have some pachinko channel/programs on tv with some pretty idols doing commentary/analyses on gameplay... lol.
I'd been to Sakae several times and I agree that it's nothing like Akiba.... maybe they should be going to Denden Town in Osaka instead (closest thing to Akiba in Japan I can think of). One thing's for sure-- if they're going to start recruiting 48 girls in every city the quality is certain to go down... but maybe pachinko players won't care so much lol.
>Is it true that mostly older folks play pachinko nowadays?
Young people are doing Pachi-slot more than Pachinko, so it's true. Both of them are falling off, anyway, because the regulation is getting stricter than before. *The probability to have the big win is reduced mechanically, to avoid the problem of pachinko-addiction.
I remember Den Den Town is in Nihonbashi, Osaka, so there can be more cool name.
NHB48. Many young girls fight at the theater in the theater in No Holds Barred style. That's more interesting and I wanna go lol.
I wonder how SKE48 collaborate with panchiko.
But of some AKB girls transfered to SKE...
I don't understand =____=
Lately I kinda dislike Akimoto.
I don't think SKE48 will perform as campaing girls of Pachinko directly, though. (* I believe there is a law or regulation to protect children not to work in such a industry.)
But it's sure their salary will paid by the pachinko money for a while.
Oh sorry, I misunderstood that... you are right. Pachinko is not the gamble but the job permitted by regional / National security comittiee (kouan iinkai). thank you for your kindness.
