Down Down, a creep around you, set a road to the deep east, Down Down, a creep around you, setting a road to the deep east, Down Down.... SEE NEW WORLD!!
Whenever I listen to LALALA feat. Wakadanna from Kato Miliyah, one question occurs to me.
'What is the man in this song doing??'
Oh, don't take me wrong. I named the male rapper Wakadanna from Shonan no kaze one of the most irritating JPOP star, but I don't mean to be mean to this big fat guy. I mean the person who appears in the lyrics of this song. And this song is the first song from her latest album 'TOKYO STAR', so whenever I listen to this album throughly, this question always agonizes me.
-- In this song, it looks the man (sung and played by Wakadanna) and woman (by Miliyah) are living together. (full Japanese lyrics)
In this lyrics, the woman starts: 昨日も深夜2時 体も疲れ果てて かまって欲しそう でも寝させて 文句ひとつ言わない君がもういじらしい (I got home at 2:00AM again, I got exhausted, You looks you have something, but leave me alone You don't complain, it's so lovely.)
She gets home at midnight, and in the next morning, she wakes up earlier than man and goes to work again while he is still sleeping. It always happens to an office worker woman working in this country, especially in Tokyo.
But what is the man doing while she is working so hard?? The man says;
(I got anxious seeing your back, “Do you left home so soon?” (skip) I love you.” All day long I see the clock playing it cool. It's still noon, I'm disappointed a little. But I can do it somehow. To make living is very hard, so I have to console you. To welcome you all in smiles when you got home, that's only the thing I can do.)
All the thing he does in this song is waking up around noon, and checking the clock out all day long. And when she gets home at midnight, he has already fell in a sleep. ....As he says, to make living is very hard, and I don't think all he can do is not only just consoling the working girlfriend...
So, first, I thought this song is a song of working woman and helpless her boyfriend. I think this happens to the men and women in the world, and sometimes women- especially, women working in sex industry keep this kind of boyfriend.
However, when we assume this song is about this kind of couple, there appear some awkward points.
When I imagine the life without you, my tears won't stop. You are looking at me putting your head a little to one side, wondering why. And you wipe my tears off.
Put his head to one side?(首をかしげる?)
Of course, I'm not well informed about human being's gesture in the world, but will the man do it when you have some question when the questionee is so near? When he is alone and have some questions, he may sometimes do, just like I'm doing now. But in this situation the person whom he have something to ask is staying close enough to wipe her tears off. In that kind of situation, we have the better function called 'language'. He can ask her directly, "what's wrong?"
The man can't speak It's a kind of beautiful story that common woman falls in love with handicapped man. It's like a Korean drama. And nobody can't blame him for not working then.
The man is a gaijin NOVA teacher. Maybe the man was fired after NOVA went bankrupt, and now living in the room of his girlfriend, who used to be his student. And the 'tilting the neck' gesture is more popular among Westerners, I think. And the point Milliyah repeats in this song - 'I can't be with you forever' makes sense here. Maybe his visa will expire soon.
However, now I found another more plausible one. To sum up, the clauses to be this person in this song are :
1. The man doesn't speak. 2. His only job is to console his woman. 3. The man tilts his head to one side when he is wondering something.
The answer is, 'Miliyah's Pet Dog'
Some may say a dog doesn't tilt its head, but look at this clip.
Some may say dogs don't look at the clock and don't understand what it means, but they can if the clock rings the bell.
Who blames the dog sleeping all day long? And when assume this person is a dog, other mysterious lyrics come to be understandable.
(There are enemies outside, I have to protect you somehow.) Faithful dogs think like that and actually do it.
(We can't stay together forever.) Unfortunately, dogs die younger than human beings.
(I dream of sleeping on your knee) Dogs can sleep on girl's knee, but It's sure Wakadanna can't.
... and so on.
So, my conclusion is : this 'LALALA' is a song of a pet dog and working woman.
There is a song from Bennie K titled 'Doggy Love', but actually, this LALALA was the true 'Doggy Love.'

LOL
I love your analysis.
so Wakadana sung her dog's parts?
why I found this kinda awkward?
btw NOVA is really bankrupt?

There is another evidence Wakadanna is a dog in this song. In the middle of this song (2:52-2:53) he howls like a dog. "Woooooooooo!!!". So, i think he is a dog lol.
And I'd thought NOVA has already ended, but it seems they restarted lessons with new sponsors and teachers last months.

Oh, intriguing analysis! lol
I often walk SUSUKINO where is one of the famous sex industrial cities. there are so many young women who have tiny dogs.
A news paper (magazin? sorry I forgot) which I read said such women love dogs as their loyal servants or substitutes for lovery boyfriends or children.
um, suggestive!

I also see a lot of pet shops in Ginza or Shinjuku, stood between soapland and Kyabakuda.
It's sure the people working in those shops loves pet dogs, but I heard another terrible rumor.
Kyabakura girls sometimes ask her customer to buy the dog for her at such pet shops, and the customer buy it paying 200,000 yens for her.
But she returns to the dog to the shop soon after she said good bye to the guy to get repayment. And the the same dog is displayed and sold at the pet shop again and again....

but first of all she looks really... awkward in that CD jacket. everytime i see it, im like "she srsly let that picture get printed??" lol
but very interesting analysis tho! altho it is possible that there are women who work for their men. i think there's a lot of those here in america... girl power is good, but that's just laziness on a man's part lol

Personally, I still believe this rumor. All the dogs in such shops always look tired, stressed.
(It may be because they have to be lighten up and displayed at midnight, though.)

I agree about the album's cover. I don't say she is always kawaii type like idol girls, but she looks terrible in the jacket. But young girls (her main customers) may like it, because they look like a friend of them.
And this man can be the house husband like you say, rahter to be a helpless boyfriend. But then, it's too cruel that she says 'I can't be with you forever' lol.

ugh i see that picture again! lol. whats with her face really D: she's like "eh..." lol
omg if i had a freeloading boyfriend or whatever like that, i would be really frustrated. i would probably kick him out too. that's just a big no no for me.
i've seen this kind of situations with my own eyes, and i will never get involved with a douchebag like that. sorry this is getting personal in my part lolol
