It's a bit later coverage, but,
Perfume releases new single on July 9th.(Article from music new site, Natalie.Kind of sweet name to me. )
http://natalie.mu/news/show/id/7255It will be the second single released in this year. The title and how this song is like is still uncertain. Their album 'Game' has sold 500,000 copies, and got #1 at Oricon weekly charts, and with this single, now they challenge to the #1 of single charts.
And Natalie also brings me an interesting news.
Kreva, a former member of Kick the can crew and one of representative Japanese hip-hop, covered Perfume.http://natalie.mu/news/show/id/7271According to this article, He started his national tour from May 21st, and in this concert, he suddenly started 'a song from Perfume', with their choreography.
This article doesn't explain which song Kreva actually copied, but I envy the audience at the venue. It seems this hip-hop guy loves this group, and especially Kashiyuka.
Since I listened the mush-up of capsule+Beastie Boys+Daft Punk, I'm very looking forward to Perfume, or Nakata Yasutaka's music meets hip-hop in the future. It won't happen, but it'll be great if this Perfume fan guy collaborates with Perfume in this new single.

It's amazing that they release single in such a short span, anyway. Certainly, Perfume is now becoming a national idol even Kreva loves, and 500,000 fans are waiting for the new work from this group.
But for the people who knew about their past, when they didn't release anything after Perfume complete best for 6months , this consecutive release looks too sudden.
In America or other countries, it is common to release single after the album to sell the album better, but it is not common way in Japan, and this single looks to be just a new song, not the cut from the album.
Why are they in so hurry? And why should become national idol with those desperate promotions?

Well, I guess
the disbanding of Southern All Stars is influencing this situation. Southern All Stars, the most popular rock band in Japan announcedthat it'll stop its activity forever last Sunday. And this band belongs to the same agency as Perfume,
Amuse.
(article from Tokyo Graph)
http://www.tokyograph.com/news/id-3216This agency also has another major aritsts like Porno Graffitti or Fukuyama Masaharu, but it depends on SAS heavily, and when SAS announced disbanding, the price of the stock of Amuse fell by 5%.
So, now this agency is now demanding the new star, which can compensate the loss of Southern All Stars. Then, the group sold 500,000 copies, Perfume must be chosen for a new source of revenue.
It is an irony that the group who used to be neglected by the agency in indy era is now in such a position, but the business is all about.
But I wish Amuse won't be' too' desperate to promote Perfume, and won't exhaust our Messiah, Nakata. The goodness of Perfume's miracle is they could become just popular just for their music very naturally, without any supports or forcement from major label or agency, being different from AKB something. And if overloads killed Nakata's talent in the end, it's the death of this group, and the greatestloss in JPOP world.
At least, he is by far more important than Southern something to me. So, Please, do not be too desperate and please, do not kill Yasutaka. At least, Perfume's lisnters are not expecting more than something amuses us, musically.
Hellow, I've enjoyed reading your entry every day.
I totaly agree with your guess and opinion.
15 years ago, I was(…am) a fan of Nirvana and had shock from some crazy episodes of K.Cobain (Is it too much out of date?). A sudden chage often makes bad friction against status quo…like a horrible earthquake struck China.
Of course, as a fan, I long for Perfume's new song and DVD. But, I cannot help feeling evanescense. Music is not consumptive goods like AKB something. You may think it's too much languishing. I know・・・.
I remember their cute smile and airy steps at HMV event in Sapporo last September. I wish they would be natural as they are from now on…
ANYWAY Have a good weekend!
After I posted this entry 2 days back and thought twice, I came to think 2 singles in 6 months are not so desperate, though.
(You know, many artists from avXX releases something once a month or so.)

It's sure they can't hold such a event, so you should think you were lucky.
